Description of Courses and Jumps

All courses are designed to be the same as our recognized courses with possible modifications. They will include for Training and Novice: logs, water, oxers, jumps up hill, jumps downhill, and a ditch. Elementary through Beginner Novice courses are very straight-forward, introducing horses to going cross country and requiring riders to go uphill and downhill and jump fences and logs in a very easy manner. Beginner Novice may have water and a simple ditch.

 

Divisions

Elementary Division: EH (Elementary Horse), ER (Elementary Rider)

Introduction to Eventing for the beginning Horse Trials enthusiast, not timed.

Dressage: USDF 2023 Introductory Test A (Walk/Trot)

Stadium Jumping: fences 18".

Cross Country: 6-10 fences approximately 18”

Starter Division: SH (Starter Horse), SR (Starter Rider)

Straightforward courses encouraging the horse and rider, not timed.

Dressage: USEA 2026 Starter Test A

Stadium Jumping: 8-10 fences, maximum height 2'3”

Cross Country: 10-14 fences, maximum height 2’3”

Over 45 Adult Amateur Combined Test

Beginner Novice level but without Cross Country, open to amateur riders who are 45 or older, not timed.

Dressage: USEA 2026 Beginner Novice Test A

Stadium Jumping: 9-11 fences, maximum height 2’7”

 

Beginner Novice Division: BNH (Beginner Novice Horse), BNR (Beginner Novice Rider)

Beginner Novice Horse Trials but not timed.

Dressage: USEA 2026 Beginner Novice Test A

Stadium Jumping: 9-11 fences, maximum height 2’7”

Cross Country: 14-18 fences, maximum height 2’7”

 

Novice Division: NH (Novice Horse), NR (Novice Rider)

Novice Horse Trials but not timed.

Dressage: USEA 2026 Novice Test A

Stadium Jumping: 9 - 11 fences maximum height 2' 11".

Cross Country: 16 -20 fences maximum height 2' 11"

Training Division: TH (Training Horse), TR (Training Rider)

Training Level Horse Trials but not timed.

Dressage: USEA 2026 Training Test A

Stadium Jumping: 10 - 12 fences maximum height 3'3"

Cross Country: 20 -24 fences maximum height 3'3"

 

Modified Division: MOD (Open Modified)

Modified Level Horse Trials but not timed.

Dressage: USEF 2026 Modified Test A

Stadium Jumping: 10 - 13 fences maximum height 3'5"

Cross Country: 22 -26 fences maximum height 3'5"

Unrecognized Series Championship

New for 2026, Fair Hill and Plantation Field are partnering for an unrecognized series Championship which will be held at the October Plantation Field event. To qualify at Elementary, Starter, Beginner Novice, and Novice levels riders need one placing in 1st or 2nd or two placings in 3rd through 5th. At Training and Modified levels riders need one placing in 1st through 4th. Placings can be from any Fair Hill or Plantation Field unrecognized event in 2026.

 
Entry Instructions

Our preferred method of entry is to enter ELECTRONICALLY through our website at: https://www.plantationfield.com/starter-trials-entry-portal

If entering through Event Entries use the bottom section of our downloadable Starter Trials entry form for the signature page. The signature page and coggins can be submitted in the following ways:

 

  1. (preferred) email scans or full-resolution photos to secretary@plantationfield.com

  2. snail mail them to PFEE, P.O. Box 412, Unionville, PA 19375

 

* Please put birthday on entry form so we know which competitors are juniors.

* All entries must have a valid email address as all communications are done through email.

* Proof of negative Coggins within 12 months is required.

 

Entry Fees: $145 (Elementary through Training), $75 (Master Amateur Combined Test), or $155 (Modified) if paid before closing. Pony club members who enter/pay before closing get a $10 discount. Volunteers can apply any $25 vouchers. After the closing date post entries MAY be accepted electronically through Evententries.com or through our website but must be paid electronically, at $170 (Elementary through Training), $100 (MACT), or $180 (Modified).

Entries will be accepted based on postmark date. Management reserves the right to cancel or divide entries as deemed necessary.

 

Refunds: Before closing date minus $10.00 office fee. No refunds after closing date.

 

Cancellation Policy: There are no refunds if the event is canceled.
